Tribute to the king of cool – The Steve McQueen Blog-a-thon
Yes, I'm not writing. I know it's only been 10 days since I started writing here, but I was expecting more of myself. Instead of making excuses, I found myself the perfect thing to get me going:
Jason Bellamy over at The Cooler is organizing a Steve McQueen themed Blog-a-thon. Having just started this blog, I'm looking forward to participating my first collaborative piece of writing. And what better way than with the coolest guy that ever walked the Earth. The Blog-a-thon will begin on March 24, on what would have been McQueens 80th birthday, and run for three days. I promise more from me before that.
Empire readers say that Batman & Robin is the worst film ever. But is it really?
So I'm a few days late on this news, I apologize. I was greeted at the beginning of the week with the news that the readers of Empire magazine have decided in their infinite wisdom that among the 50 worst films of all time, Batman & Robin is the worst. Now, I don't care much for film lists, as they are usually a bottomless pit of content recycling without hardly any new insight. I can't remember the time that I have last seen a list of films where i have discovered something interesting and never before seen. However, arbitrary decisions on what is the best or worst film of the year/decade/century/ever nag me the most. Let me explain.
The Injustice of the Razzies
We're going to see the Oscar nominations tomorrow. But trust me, compared to todays news, no one gives a damn. The Golden Raspberry Foundation has unveiled their nominations for this years Razzie awards, as well as 3 special 30th Razzie-versary awards for worst films/actors/actresses of the decade. While I found no suprises in the lineup, I am disgusted and appaled that the Twilight film (New Blood or whatever the name is) wasn't nominated for worst picture of the year.
